Alan Ball’s Cinemax Show About Amish Country Isn’t Nearly As Interesting As It Sounds

True Blood is basically soft-core porn with worse writing and acting so it’s not surprising that show creator Alan Ball is signed on the produce a new original series for Cinemax. Unfortunately, the misleading headline for this piece lead me to believe that the show would be about Amish people. Prepare to be disappointed:

The project, described as Walking Tall meets History of Violence, did not come to Cinemax via the international co-production route but was developed at sister pay cable network HBO and has Alan Ball attached as an executive producer.

-snip-

features an enigmatic ex-con/martial arts expert posing as a murdered sheriff who imposes his own brand of justice while also cooking up plans that serve his own interests.

So it’s an amalgam of two crappy movies that everyone has spent the last five years trying to forget… Wouldn’t you so much rather watch a show about Amish people indulging in gratuitous sex and drug use? Am I the only one?
