Weekend Preview Featuring Fighting Robots

Sorry for the late posting, its been a pretty hectic day. Anyway, here’s what’s going on this weekend.

Real Steel: If you watch any TV at all then you have been bombarded with advertising for this movie. As you have likely surmised, Real Steel‘s premise is that in the future boxing is done entirely by robots (no word on what happened to MMA). Hugh Jackman plays a washed-up deadbeat fighter who builds a robot, yadda yadda, redemption, every boxing movie ever.

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 59%

Uninformed Commentary: I give this four out of five derps and a dismissive wank for good measure. I suppose it might be okay to go to and turn your brain off for 90 minutes, but in this economy is that really worth $12? Didn’t think so…

Ides of March: George Clooney and Ryan Gosling in a political thriller that your girlfriend will make you go watch.

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 82%

Uninformed Commentary: Critics love these types of movies so the reviews are predictably positive. I, on the other hand, am not a fan of the political thriller. It’s not that I mind talking, i just prefer it to be interspersed with fart jokes and/or explosions. I knew this movie had something to do with an election and a scandal, but I had no idea that it all took place in the run up to a primary until I read the synopsis. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad marketing.

The Human Centipede II: You know what this is about.

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 23%

Uninformed Commentary: This is nothing compared to the upcoming Japanese film Zombie Ass. Your move, Germans.
